EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED
September 1st, 2021. The organizing committee comprised of the Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army, Association of the United States Army, Cincinnati Warbirds, and the Cincinnati VA Medical Center have made a decision to cancel the September 11, 2021 Operation Thank You and 9-11 Commemoration Event scheduled to be held at Lunken Airport. This decision was made out of an abundance of caution, given the current climate concerning the emergence of the Delta variant which is showing to be a more dangerous and transmissible form of COVID-19. Members of the event organizing committee each share a common focus and mission concerning this event, but not at the cost of potentially placing Veterans, Families, Active U.S. Service Members, First Responders and the general public in harm’s way of this virus that all of us continue to battle and protect one another from every day.
The members of the organizing committee have already made a commitment to offer this event next year on September 11, 2022. The committee is disheartened with this decision, but knows this decision to be the right decision at this time. Please continue to keep your thoughts and prayers for all of our Veterans, U.S. Service Members, First Responders, their families and those men and women that are soon to be entering military service. We will always owe a debt of gratitude to all that have put on the uniform to serve and protect our great Nation.
